Blackbelt Final Presentation Day

Today is one of the busiest days for Blackbelts as they are doing their final presentations.

LPS - BB Report Out

The Blackbelts have their last module this week including the much anticipated Extreme Makeover Kaizen. Having a solid foundation from our Greenbelt program and having learned the ins and outs of lean application in Assessment & Strategy, Supply Chain and seeing lean in all aspects of life with the Japan trip, the Extreme Makeover in some ways is the pinnacle of Kaizens. The Blackbelts utilize Lean Sensei's Lean Problem Solving (LPS) methodology.

Here are photos from the report-out.

Mini Tokyo

We cover a lot of ground in our Japan Lean tour. We visit a large variety of high calibre lean organizations and have many Japanese cultural learnings embedded into the trip as well. You will get an immense amount of value and motivation from this tour.

I found that the tours of some best-in-class Lean organizations helped me fine tune my eye so that I became more able to see positive and negative indicators of Lean without relying on our Senseis to point them out.Though the trip was a few weeks ago but we still have so much to share.

Here is a time lapse video created by president of Lean Sensei International, David Chao. It's a Tokyo, pocket size for us to share with everyone back home.

Juku Lean People Development

Lean Sensei is very excited to launch our new Juku workshop today!

In Japanese, the term Juku refers to special classes designed to advance students to higher degrees of success. Similarly, Lean Sensei’s Juku Extended Education program focuses on concentration and dedication in developing the best in Lean talent.

A new extended education program has been developed for Lean Sensei Greenbelt, Blackbelt and Master Blackbelt graduates to go above and beyond what they have learned in Lean certification programs. The Juku program is designed to complement other Lean Sensei programs and bring new challenges to graduates who are ready to bring their knowledge and experience to the next level. It is intended to be completed within a 12 month period (ie. January to December).

In addition, the Juku program allows people to stay connected and networked with others who are building their Lean and Toyota Way knowledge base. Learning opportunities will be in the form of workshops and hands-on seminars.

Why is this important?

The Juku program supports the ongoing educational and professional development of Lean Sensei certified Leanbelt practitioners. The purpose of Lean Sensei’s Juku program is to:
  • Enhance the professional development of Lean certified practitioners
  • Enhance the sustainability of Lean within client organizations
  • Encourage and recognize individualized learning opportunities
  • Offer a standardized and objective mechanism for attaining and recording professional development activities
  • Sustain the recognition and value of Lean Sensei Leanbelt credentials

The next Juku workshop on Lean Mistake Proofing will be in 2014 commencing January 24. Please visit our website for more information - www.leansensei.com

Mapping it!

Most of you will agree that December is one of the busiest times of the year. We have Greenbelt on simultaneously in Toronto and Calgary.

In the photos below, a couple of the Toronto teams are mapping out processes in their Office kaizen. This is the last module of the program. And this is the last Greenbelt class in Toronto until March 2014.

Registration is open for Toronto now: http://leansensei.com/register

Good luck Greenbelts!
